Marissa and Nick’s Bookstore Engagement Shoot

Some engagement sessions just have that extra bit of magic—the kind that feels like stepping into a well-loved novel or a quiet moment in the forest where time slows down. Marissa and Nick’s engagement shoot was exactly that.

Part 1: The Write Bookshop

When Marissa first mentioned that she and Nick spent a lot of their early dates wandering The Write Bookshop in downtown St. Catharines, I was hooked. A historic bookshop filled with well-loved pages, creaky wooden floors, and a cozy, nostalgic charm? Yes, please!

Inside, the magic unfolded. Marissa and Nick naturally fell into the rhythm of flipping through pages, laughing over old book titles, and stealing glances at each other between the stacks. It felt like capturing a quiet, intimate part of their love story—the kind of moments that aren’t staged. Of course we threw in a couple of posed photos, but even those felt so authentically them.

Part 2: Woodend Conservation Area

From the cozy bookstore, we headed to the beautiful forest of Woodend Conservation Area. The plan was to explore the trails, but we ran into a bit of a snag—construction had blocked off most of our intended spots.

Did we let that stop us? Not a chance.

With just the front entrance to work with, we leaned into the beauty that was right in front of us. The towering trees, the soft light filtering through the branches, and the way Nick and Marissa naturally fit together made every shot feel effortless. Sometimes, constraints force creativity, and I honestly think we nailed it!

Marissa and Nick’s engagement session was a blend of cozy nostalgia and wild-hearted adventure—a perfect reflection of who they are together. From well-loved books to the quiet stillness of the woods, their love story unfolded beautifully in front of my lens. This was one of my absolute favourite shoots of the year.
